Hydrogen Fusion

Picture
H stands for Hydrogen while HE is Helium. The Numbers before the letters are the atomic weight value determining its isotope.
Fusion- Fusing of basic elements to form heavier ones. In side a star, hydrogen atoms fuse to form helium atoms. This process releases energy in the form of heat and various radiations.

Depending on the mass of the star, other elements can begin to fuse as well. This is how all of the elements, except for hydrogen, are made in the universe.

Our star is capable of fusing elements all the way to iron because of its mass.
